CONSTRUCTION SITE SERVICES

Hascom’s full–time professional staff carry out inspections of construction and civil engineering work at regular intervals for clients of all sizes, nation–wide. Our philosophy is to provide technical resource to our clients, augmenting the arrangements they make themselves to ensure compliance with the law and the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions.

Inspection intervals can be as short or as long as needs dictate and our clients request. We do not force clients to adopt a set visiting pattern, and our visits take as long as the work requires.

Some of our clients ask that we undertake audits of their work at regular monthly intervals. Following an inspection of the work with site staff, the management systems on site are checked against the company’s own standards, policies and procedures – which we have also developed with them. We believe that our clients should be less interested in a catalogue of infringements found during a visit than exploring with us the reasons why those situations arose and in planning to prevent their recurrence.

Other, usually smaller, clients have a less developed middle management structure and they rely on Hascom’s more frequent inspections to provide more regular information on site standards. These visits take place at an average of once every three weeks (although some clients have arranged weekly visits to their contracts).

Audits and inspections of work are a central part of the management approach required by the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 1994 (CDM). Hascom specialises in the interpretation of CDM requirements for clients, and development of appropriate responses to requests by planning supervisors, clients and other contractors. Static premises such as joineries, plant yards and offices are visited by arrangement at appropriate intervals.

All visits are confirmed with a written report posted e–mailed or faxed to our clients offices, and usually a copy is left on site. We are happy to design report forms specially if required at no extra charge, or to use client’s existing forms on request.

All our construction clients who subscribe to our services have access to our unique telephone Adviceline which is manned by qualified safety professionals with construction experience. They provide on–the–spot advice and information to management by telephone, fax, letter or e–mail, and we produce a monthly Safety Update newsletter which our clients are encouraged to circulate among their staff.

The cost of the package varies with the size of the client and, of course, with the likely demand for our services. Normally the Adviceline service is charged annually as a subscription to our clients, which covers all overheads associated with the provision. This gives unlimited access to the latest information with up to thirty minutes free research time per enquiry. Site visits are charged at an agreed hourly rate counting only the actual time spent on site, inclusive of mileage and other costs within an agreed working area.

Hascom’s friendly service is just a phone call or a fax away.
